I want more information about the lava bed. I went there last night, and it’s such an odd place. Has it been logged? How long ago was the fire? What kind of animals live there?

Heidi, I think sasquatch built the roads, as well as eating all the other animals in there. Now Sasquatch gives me 10 bucks for every unsuspecting newby I send his way….hahahahahaha. scott

Was out there today and, unfortunately, did not know to look for this road. Definitely will next time. However, we did find & experience “the slow hell of the pot-holed ‘short cut'”! Unpleasant and not scenic enough to warrant the effort.

  3. Jerry Roseburrough Says:

Heidi, no Fire and no logging. Trees are small and stunted because there is no soil or nutrients for them to grow well.

    • curiousgorgeguidebook Says:

Jerry , There was a fire in the Big Lava bed not too many years ago. And, why were the roads put in there in your opinion, if not for some potential logging reason?

  4. Jerry Roseburrough Says:

Don’t know about any fire, certainly possible. Just assumed you thought fire because of all the dead and dry trees. With no top soil any prolonged dry spell causes many plants and trees to die or have very stunted growth. No guess on the road.
